Benchmarks of the Intel Core i7 3770K Ivy Bridge processor at stock and overclocked settings running under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the Linux 3.2 kernel. Testing for a future article and there's comparison results to the Intel Core i5 2500K and Intel Core i5 2400S and Intel Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge processors. There's also Intel Core i7 3790X Sandy Bridge Extreme, AMD FX-8150 Bulldozer, and AMD A8-3870K Fusion Llano processors for reference too. All testing done on same hardware/software aside from swapping out motherboards when needed. The source based benchmarks were rebuilt each time with -O3 and -march=native compiler flags. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86_64 was stock install but building the GCC 4.7.0 compiler from source for testing across all processors as the GCC 4.7 compiler has enhancements for Intel Ivy Bridge, Intel Sandy Bridge, AMD Bulldozer, etc. The overclocked Core i7 3770K was just at a simple 4.3GHz using the stock Intel heatsink fan and controlling the overclock from the UEFI/BIOS on the Intel DZ77GA motherboard. More tests are forthcoming. These results are embargoed until 23 April at 9.00 Uhr PST.
