Benchmarking of the Intel Core i7 3770K Ivy Bridge processor with Intel HD 4000 graphics under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86_64 Linux with the Git versions of Mesa 8.1-devel, xf86-video-intel, libdrm, and Linux 3.4 kernel as of mid-April 2012. Testing for a future article on Phoronix.com. From the same system (and same software packages) for comparison are a variety of AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards tested on both the open-source and respective closed-source drivers (e.g. Catalyst and NVIDIA blob) for each tested graphics card. The open-source drivers were all built from same time/options. The open-source Radeon driver was loaded with PCI Express 2.0 support loaded (pcie_gen2=1), swap buffers wait disabled, and ColorTiling/ColorTiling2D enabled. With the Nouveau driver, the GPU performance level (core and graphics memory frequency) were manually set to their highest exposed performance level to reflect the reference/proper operating frequencies for each graphics card since Nouveau is still largely a busted mess for re-clocking.
