ATI "fglrx" Support On Ubuntu 8.04: If you've been trying out the latest alpha builds of Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" and are using the ATI binary driver, you may want to check out the latest packaging scripts from Phorogit. For Ubuntu users, there is now 8.04 support so you can run --buildpkg Ubuntu/hardy or --buildpkg Ubuntu/8.04 for building your Debian packages.
fglrx 8.42.3 Available For Download: The ATI/AMD fglrx driver for x86 and x86_64 Linux is now available! This supports AIGLX and everything else we at Phoronix have been talking about. Avivo vs. Fglrx Driver In GtkPerf: While the Avivo driver doesn't yet contain 3D functionality or support a number of features found in the official fglrx driver and the community Radeon driver, it is making steady progress despite its age. Most recently with the open-source R500 driver implementing shadow frame-buffer support, we have experienced a noticeable increase in performance.

New ATI fglrx Control Panel?: It looks like AMD/ATI is working on improving the fireglcontrolpanel, which right now lacks a ton of functionality. However, reports are saying that AMD is working on a new Qt Catalyst Control Panel for Linux, which is rumored to be completed by the end of the calendar year.
ATI fglrx + Fedora Core 6 How-To: With Fedora Core 6 coming out tomorrow, over at the Redblog I have published a patch to allow the latest ATI fglrx drivers (8.29.6) to run successfully on FC6. This patch is needed in order for the RPMs to build correctly, and a how-to guide is available that documents all of the steps needed to setup the drivers.
ATI X1000 + fglrx Q4/06 Update: It has been six months since ATI Technologies had introduced Radeon X1000 support in their Linux fglrx display drivers.
