benchmarkreviews.com: In early September, 2008 Intel released their mainstream series of solid state drives. In its initial offfering Intel brought two drives to market, the X18-M and the X25-M built respectively on the 1.8" and 2.5" form factors. The initial capacity of these drives was 80 GB and recently a 160 GB version was released.
legitreviews.com: The first generation drives used an Intel branded controller with the part number PC29AS21AA and the new second generation drivers use an Intel branded controller with the part number PC29AS21BA0. The controller was changed for a number of reasons, but you can bet that performance and added features is the number one reason for going to a new controller.
hothardware.com: Intel officially announced the new SSD 320 Series drives yesterday, which feature proprietary Intel SSD processors paired to cutting edge 25nm NAND flash memory. This new family of drives, however, isn?t geared for ultra-high performance. While still fast, the overarching goals with the Intel SSD 320 series were increased reliability and security.
