OLPC XO-1.75 Laptop Preview: Last month at XDC2011 Chicago, I managed to get my hands on what should be the production hardware model of the XO-1.75 laptop that is expected to be released in the coming months by the OLPC project. The low-cost OLPC laptop targeted for students is now ARM-based and consumes very little power.
OLPC XO Test Build (Sugar Interface): We've heard a lot about the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) project, which aims to provide a $100 laptop for developing nations, and we've heard a bit about its Sugar interface and other technical abilities, but recently we spent the time with QEMU and a test build of the OLPC XO operating system (Fedora based) to see how it really shapes up.
OLPC Update: The OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) program has gotten a new name, price, and features. According to Ars Technica, the OLPC program will advertise the laptop as The Children's Machine (CM1). The price has been upped $40 from the original $100 USD, but this heightened price comes with new system specifications.
