Phoronix Information

OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD: It's been a while since last providing a Phoronix review of a solid-state drive from OCZ Technology, but now with Serial ATA 3.0 support becoming more prevalent on modern Intel and AMD motherboards, they have been releasing a number of updated products to take advantage of SATA 3.0.

ATI R300g / R600g Unify Their Vertex Buffer Manager: Hitting the Mesa tree this weekend were messages of "r600g: use the new vertex buffer manager" and "r300g: use the new vertex buffer manager."..

OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD: As solid-state drives are becoming very popular with enthusiasts and a common choice for those interested in high-performance data storage, at Phoronix we have reviewed many SSDs from OCZ Technology including the Agility, Agility EX, Vertex, and Solid 2. Today we are reviewing the next-generation Vertex SSD, which is the Vertex 2, and it promises to offer much faster reads and writes, is rated to last an extra 500,000 hours beyond the 1.5 million hour MTBF of the original Vertex, and is available in capacities up to 480GB.

OCZ Vertex SATA 2.0 60GB SSD: Besides offering an impressive selection of USB flash drives and DDR2/DDR3 memory products, OCZ Technology has been quick to expand their selection of solid state drives. OCZ manufacturers SSD products in their value, mainstream, performance, and enterprise series with some of these series containing multiple product families.

Industry Reviews

OCZ Vertex 120GB v1.10 MLC SSD

legitreviews.com: The OCZ Vertex SSD (OCZSSD2-1VTX120G) uses the 2.5" form factor used in notebooks, so this drive will work in any notebook. If you wanted to be able to mount it in a desktop chassis with 3.5" bays you'll be forced to use something like the OCZ Solid State Drive 3.5" Adaptor Bracket in order to get it bolted up in the system properly.

OCZ 120GB Vertex 2 SSD

ocia.net: OCZ's latest series of performance SSDs, the Vertex 2 and Agility 2, both make use of the SandForce 1200 controller, and have proven themselves to be very fast performers in our reviews. Despite more and more mainstream users adopting SSDs for their desktop systems, the majority of drives continue to be manufactured in the 2.5" notebook format.

OCZ Vertex 2 120GB

thinkcomputers.org: OCZ has been one of the big players in the solid state drive market since the first consumer drives were available. We have seen them really push the technology to the limit over the past year, but they are also still concerned about you the customer. That is why they have released 3.5-inch versions of both their Vertex 2 and Agility 2 solid state drives.

OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD

hardwareheaven.com: Just about a year ago OCZ released their latest high performance SATA SSD, the Vertex 2 which was based on SandForce's latest controller. That drive was a huge success, surpassing the performance of its main competitor at the time, drives based on Indilinx controllers.

OCZ Vertex 120GB SATA SSD

benchmarkreviews.com: Lower power consumption and heat output are the least impressive benefits of Solid State Drives. The real payoff is in the practically instant response time and high-performance throughput. Once SSDs could outperform their HDD counterpart, it was all about price and capacity.

OCZ Vertex 2 3.5-inch 120GB

tweaktown.com: OCZ Technology is the Swiss Army of solid state drives. The company has a product in their line-up for every occasion. Until now desktop users have been forced to pay a premium for smaller 2.5" notebook drives that need a desktop adapter bracket. Notebook drives require larger flash modules and need an adapter to fit in desktops.

OCZ Vertex 3 SandForce SF-2000

hothardware.com: Just last week, we offered a glimpse of what OCZ has in store for the enterprise SSD market with a preview of the Vertex 3 Pro. Without giving away all of the juicy details, the Vertex 3 Pro essentially buried the competition and offered performance that was significantly better than any current-gen solid state drive.
