Mionix Naos 3200 Mouse: A few weeks back we reviewed the Swedish-made Excito B3 Mini ARM Server, which we liked for its capabilities and hardware, until it overheated. Today we are reviewing another product from a Swedish company, Mionix AB, as we try out the Naos 3200 computer mouse.
Using NVIDIA's VDPAU On Mobile Platforms: We know that NVIDIA's Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix (VDPAU) works very well for exposing PureVideo capabilities on Linux. We have benchmarked VDPAU and found it to perform very well in that under Linux it's possible to play HD videos with a $20 CPU and $30 GPU thanks to this video acceleration method.
AMD Launches 790GX / Radeon HD 3300: Back in March we had benchmarked the ATI Radeon HD 3200, which is an integrated graphics processor (IGP) built into AMD's 780G motherboard chipset for use with Phenom processors (but is also backwards compatible with early AMD AM2 CPUs). We were pleased with the performance of the Radeon HD 3200 IGP, but today AMD has introduced the 790GX Chipset with Radeon HD 3300 graphics...
AMD Radeon HD 3200 / 780G: Last year AMD introduced the flagship 790 Chipset series as part of their Spider Platform for use with the Phenom processors and Radeon HD 3800 graphics. Until earlier this month when AMD introduced the 780 Series, missing was any chipset with integrated graphics capabilities supporting these first AMD quad-core processors.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ & Sempron 3400+: After having presented our preview of the AMD Socket AM2 last week, today we finally have our first set of numbers ready to publish. Our first Linux AM2 performance report comes in way of the AMD Sempron 3400+ and AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+.
ATI Socket AM2 Chipsets: Today, as anticipated ATI has released their line-up of AMD Socket AM2 Chipsets. Both ATI's Radeon Xpress 1100 and CrossFire Xpress 3200 are compatible with the AM2 DDR2 processors. The Southbridge going with either of these chips is the SB600. As stated in our AM2 Technology Preview, SB600 support had found its way into the release candidate 3 for the 2.6.17 kernel.

ATI Xpress 3200 (RD580): On the hardware swing of things for today, ATI Technologies has done a hard-launch of the new CrossFire Xpress 3200, or the much talked about RD580. ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY)(NASDAQ:ATYT), has changed the rules of the motherboard industry with the introduction of its CrossFire(TM) Xpress 3200 chipset-delivering the enthusiast gaming platform of the future.
Mobile HDD Cache Comparison: In an effort to gain a larger mobile penguin presence we have numerous notebook related articles under works and our first to deliver is a mobile cache comparison examining the benefits of an increased ATA-6 cache size, which is one of the ways to seek an increased performance over a HDD speed increase with the downfalls of that being an excessive amount of heat along with being noisy and wearing down the battery life.
