AMD To Drop Radeon HD 2000/3000/4000 Catalyst Support: In what will certainly be controversial and disappointing to some Radeon Linux desktop users, AMD will soon announce that they will effectively be discontinuing support for several Radeon product families from their proprietary Catalyst driver. After that point, for future Linux distribution updates, the open-source Radeon Linux driver will be your only option for accelerated graphics.

Intel 965 (GMA 3000) Linux Driver Fixes: Two commits to the Intel X.Org driver address previous issues with this open-source driver and the Intel 965 (GMA 3000/X3000) Chipsets. Copying of memory blocks of the sf_kernel when a mask is needed has been corrected by David Airlie. Intel 965 Chipsets with the latest Intel X.Org git code can now handle composite acceleration to A8 destinations.

Intel GMA 3000 Performance Q1-07: The last time Phoronix had taken a thorough look at Intel's Linux display drivers was last October when we had shared our initial performance figures for the GMA 3000 integrated graphics processor found on the Q965 Express. Testing at that time was only about two months after Intel had launched their new open-source Linux graphics website along with support for the 965 Express Chipset.

Intel GMA 3000 Q965 Graphics: In August Intel had announced their new Linux graphics driver website as well as announcing the immediate availability of open-source display drivers for the 965 Express Chipset. This Chipset offers fourth-generation Intel graphics architectures in the form of the GMA 3000 and GMA X3000.
